Laura Ellery

Biography

Laura Ellery is a Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy within the Faculty of Arts, Society and Professional Studies.  Laura is a qualified Physiotherapist.  Before joining Newman university, Laura was a Practice Education Facilitator, providing a student led physiotherapy service for older people in residential villages across the UK. Laura’s other roles in higher education include being an Assistant Professor in Physiotherapy at Coventry University, programme development lead for BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy at UCB and lecturer in Sports Therapy also at UCB.

 

Before moving into academia, Laura had a range of clinical experience, working within the acute and community setting, within the NHS.  Laura also has experience within paediatrics, including PICU and school based physiotherapy.

 

Laura has a keen interest in healthcare education, having recently graduated with a Masters degree in Medical Education, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Research Interests

Laura has an interest in research based around healthcare education and is keen to bring evidence-based teaching and learning techniques directly to students.

 

Membership of Professional Organisations:

Laura maintains her registration as a Physiotherapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiothearpy.  Laura is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
