Tom Boodell

Biography

Tom joined Newman University in April 2022 as a senior lecturer on the Primary ITTE undergraduate and PGCE course. He completed his own PGCE here at Newman back in 2007 and then spent 15 years working in primary schools in Sandwell. He held a variety of leadership roles during this time and spent the past three years as head teacher of a one-form entry Catholic primary school. In 2011, Tom completed the Post Graduate Certificate in Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCo) and held the post of SENCo for much of his teaching career.

Other responsibilities in his school setting have included: whole school leadership and management, teaching and learning lead, curriculum development, strategic school improvement, designated safeguarding lead, student support and mentoring NQTs, ECTs and RQTS.

These experiences have given Tom a wealth of knowledge on a range of school policies and practices which he looks forward to sharing with students here at Newman University.

Tom will begin studying for his Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education in September 2022.
