Uchenna Chima

Biography

Uchenna is a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing. She is a registered Mental Health Nurse qualified in 2017, with experience of working within Forensic, Acute and Older adult mental health settings.

Before joining Birmingham Newman University in June 2023, Uchenna worked in Coventry University with responsibilities that included Module Lead for the Mental Health Complex Care Module and Year two Practice Modules. Uchenna was also the Admissions Tutor for Mental Health Nursing.

Prior to joining Coventry University, Uchenna worked in Birmingham City University as Teaching Fellow in Mental Health Nursing and Personal Tutor for the Foundation year students and the Registered Nurse Degree Apprentices.

Before moving into academia, Uchenna Worked as Senior Staff Nurse in the low and medium secure wards at St Andrew’s Healthcare, and also worked as a Bank Staff Nurse with the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Profile

Uchenna maintains her registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, and a member of the Royal College of Nursing. Uchenna is also a Fellow of the Higher Education.
