Newman University increases recipients of successful scholarship

10/12/2020 by Charlotte Knowles

Each year, Newman University offers a scholarship to an applicant who has overcome significant barriers to continuing their education due their forced migrant status and ineligibility for statutory student finance.

Previously the scholarship has been available for one student per academic year and has seen each student recipient excel in their degree with graduates in 2018, 2019 and 2020 all achieving first class honours in their respective degrees.

Primary Education with QTS graduate Ramisha Abbas, Accounting and Finance graduate Zaid Hameed, and Health and Social Care graduate Bridget Obi, all expressed how the scholarship supported them well to assist with their studies.

Due to the success in previous years and keeping with the University’s mission for social justice, Newman University will now be offering up to two undergraduate scholarships per year. The scholarship includes a tuition fee waiver and a bursary for the duration of each student’s course.

The Sanctuary Scholarship is now open for applications for prospective students due to start their studies in September 2021. For more information and application guidance, visit our Sanctuary Scholarship web page
