Here at Newman we support one of the most diverse student bodies in the UK. We estimate that around 400 of our nearly 3000 students are declared or undeclared neurodiverse people, be that dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, Autism, ADHD or ADD or similar.

We know that identifying as neurodiverse can present challenges to navigating the early stages of your time with us. There are lots of ways we can support you to have a positive start to your time at Newman.

As you join us for our Welcome Week, you will find quieter spaces in the following parts of the campus:

  • Our new Study Lounge in The Hub above Sanctuary Café
  • The Aquinas Room, to the side of our Chapel
  • All of the Library – you’ll find details on each floor of the expected levels of quiet from users
  • The Hilda Atrium is a quieter public space than our Main Atrium
  • The outdoor quads are also quieter throughout the day than inside the building

Our Student Union Fresher’s Fair on Tuesday 19th September can be busy, but is often quieter between 10-11am and 2-3pm on the day
