Clearing is how you apply for university courses that still have spaces after exam results are released. Clearing is open to:
- Students without offers
- Those who didn’t meet their offer conditions
- Anyone applying late or changing direction

How to accept your Clearing offer
Once you have received an offer from us – you need to accept this place online via your UCAS account. Here’s how:
Log in to UCAS Hub
- UCAS Hub >
- ‘Add clearing choice‘ and enter Birmingham Newman University (N36)
- Complete the Course details you have been offered by Birmingham Newman
- UCAS will then notify us that you have added Birmingham Newman as your Clearing choice
- This will update in the ‘Choices’ section of your UCAS Hub
You will receive an official letter from UCAS confirming your place. We will then send you Welcome information including enrolment times and dates.

Clearing allows students to apply for courses with available spaces at universities and colleges after they have received their exam results.
Clearing typically starts in July and continues through September, though the main period is in August around A-level results day.
Clearing is open to anyone who didn’t get any offers, missed the conditions of their offers, or decided to turn down all their offers. If you’re in one of these boats, you’re eligible to jump into Clearing.

Once you find a course you’re interested in, contact Birmingham Newman University directly to discuss your options. If we offer you a place, you can add it as your clearing choice on UCAS Track.

If you don’t receive any offers during clearing, or if you decide not to accept any offers you receive, you can explore other options such as taking a gap year, applying for apprenticeships, or considering alternative courses.
