Module delivery

The PWP courses are intensive year-long educational programmes run in conjunction with NHS-led Talking Therapies Service Providers.

On campus teaching is provided over 45 days across the year. Students will spend an additional day per week undertaking Directed Learning (using our virtual learning environment – Moodle) or self-directed study.

Teaching on module 1 (Engagement and assessment of patients with common mental health problems) very closely mirrors Talking Therapies protocols and assessment framework.

Skills based competencies are learnt through clinical simulation in small groups working intensively under close supervision with peer and tutor feedback and supervised practice through supervised direct contact with patients in the workplace.

Knowledge will be gained through a combination of lectures, seminars, discussion groups, guided reading and independent study.
